The demand for specialist knowledge to tackle condensation and mould in existing homes/dwellings has never been greater. With continued scrutiny from the media and Government, that demand is only likely to increase further as the seasons change and we enter autumn and winter.
Correctly diagnosing dwellings suffering from inadequate ventilation and specifying measures to provide it can be complicated with numerous factors that need to be considered. Occupancy levels, moisture production, heating, the air permeability of the structure, its thermal properties and any existing purpose provided ventilation measures all have to be taken into account before a suitable ventilation strategy can be proposed. Good progress has been made in the last decade in terms of improving the knowledge of those involved in providing ventilation to UK homes but are we doing enough and if not what else should we be doing?
