Who is the traditional building repair strategies course for?
This training course is aimed at surveyors who work on traditional buildings, defined as solid-walled properties pre-dating around 1939. However, It will be of benefit to anyone in the preservation industry that is interested in understanding how traditional buildings differ in their construction and how they require the use of repair strategies that are sympathetic and complimentary to the original structure. Especially useful off the back of the new methodology on ‘Moisture and its effects on traditional buildings‘.
How is the traditional repair strategies course structured?
The one day workshop will explore how traditional methods of repair can reduce or eliminate the need to introduce new chemicals or materials that can permanently alter the performance characteristics of older buildings.
- The use of lime strategies that reduce the use of chemical fungicides
- The pros and cons of both modern and traditional building repair strategies
- The importance of working with clients to set and deliver expectations
At the end of the training course, candidates will receive an attendance and understanding certificate and the course will be worth 6 CPD points.
Delivered in association with SPAB
The Property Care Association has partnered with the ‘Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings (SPAB)‘ to help develop and provide this training course to provide an exciting and informative insight into the way buildings can be repaired using traditional methods.
Traditional repair strategies may not be right for every client or indeed every property however, we are delighted to be working with SPAB to produce a practical training workshop that will assist contractors and surveyors who wish to work with clients in a different way.
