Sprayed foam assessor membership
Sprayed foam insulation is a method of insulation within roofs, walls and floors to prevent heat escaping. It has been used for many years, however, in recent years its use in pitched roofs has received a lot of negative publicity as many professionals and organisations have raised concerns regarding the potential effects of poorly applied or inappropriately specified foam. These include the impact on internal moisture levels and the effect on roofing timbers. Consequently, the presence of spray foam may significantly affect a surveyors valuation of a house, with many mortgage companies refusing to lend on such properties.
In late 2022 the PCA, together with policymakers, lenders and other specialists, produced a protocol for those involved in the inspection of sprayed polyurethane foam in domestic roofs. More recently, the Association has developed a training course to provide practical guidance to help specialists identify, evaluate and recommend appropriate actions when surveying properties where it may be present.
We are pleased that we have now expanded our membership to include sprayed foam assessors/specialists who can assist homeowners that have spray foam within their properties.
