RICS launch Public Consultation Document
Following the Commons Select Committee report on Japanese knotweed (2019), RICS have now published their new draft Guidance Note – “Japanese knotweed and Residential Property”. This is a public consultation document with a deadline for responses of 3rd August.
The PCA will respond and we anticipate many of of our PCA members you will do so too. In order to assist, we are planning to hold an ‘Invasive Weed Control Group Meeting’ in mid-July to gather views and opinions and discuss the possible impact on day-to-day surveying activities. If you are a PCA member, we would be pleased to receive any and all comments in the meantime to help us prepare for the Meeting. Please send to [email protected].
The PCA Guidance Note, which is intended to run alongside the RICS document, is now available in our Technical Document Library, via the button below. This is also a ‘draft’ until the Consultation is complete and the RICS finalise their text for publication.

Suffice to say, PCA’s Technical Manager James Berry had a thing or two to say about it! To find out more, click on the button below.

Urging householders to be vigilant to woodworm
As this is the time of the year where woodworm larvae start to bore through timber, we are urging homeowners to be vigilant and all PCA members to help share out some timely advice and help homeowners become aware to the possible presence of a woodworm infestation.
At the PCA, we have created a blog with ‘hints & tips’ to help homeowners identify whether they might have an issue. To view and share, click on the button below.
