PCA Today Publishes Important Articles

Your CEO Steve Hodgson and Technical Manager James Berry have put the topics of ventilation, moisture management, research, building regulations and technical guidance into the spotlight, with two great articles having been published in PBC Today – within the same week!

Articles like this, which reach some pretty big audiences, allows us to show off the knowledge and skills of you, our members. We hope to see more exposure with these articles over the next few weeks too, which members can access by clicking on the links below:

April 30th: Building Regs and Basement Conversions
May 5th: Fresh air and its impact in Covid-19 pandemic

Biggest Audience Yet – View the Recording!

We had an astonishing 408 people join our ‘Dampness within Buildings’ webinar this morning, our biggest audience yet!

Your CEO Steve Hodgson gave a pragmatic and robust view of moisture diagnostics, the different methods of moisture measurement in buildings and discussed the joint methodology document “Investigation of Moisture and its Effects in Traditional Buildings”. The webinar was very well received, with lots of engagement from both members and non-members – we even had attendees from as far as Australia and New Zealand!

Huge thanks to all who joined, but for those members who missed it, or wish to see it again/share with colleagues, the recording can be accessed via the button below.

Invasive Species List Updated

Our list of Invasive Non-Native Plant Species, regulated under various Acts/Regulations in the UK and Europe, was revised recently due to new species being added to the EU IAS ‘species of concern’ list. However, it was brought to our attention that some corrections were required and, to help our members, we have added some useful notes for clarification.

Your Technical Document Library has a variety of important and very useful documents which are there for you to refer to, to use and to share, including the Practical Management Manual. Members can click on the button below to access the library.

Waterproofing & Insurance Webinar

Our series of webinars continues with PCA Trainer Michael Earle guiding us through ‘Waterproofing & Insurance: Design with Confidence’ and asks, “Do you know how to create a waterproofing design that follows the recommended ‘best practice‘, giving warranty providers assurance and confidence in you? Do we really understand what warranty providers require when it comes to waterproofing?

Learning the Traditional Way

We are all too aware that the current situation is demanding us to engage more with our colleagues, clients and customers via online platforms. More often than not, there is no other alternative especially when it comes to gaining those all important CPD points.

But let’s not forget some of the good old fashioned ways to keep our knowledge up to date and for sharing valuable information, as PCA Honorary Member, CSTDB Examiner and Wood Identification Trainer Gervais Sawyer has reminded us, with a traditional written book review accessed via the button below.

Members can also check if you’re up to date with the latest technical information, by visiting the Technical Document Library – another great source of content to use, to refer to and to share.
