Can you afford to miss the conference?
Many will agree that there has never been a more rapid rate of change in the preservation sector and this years ‘International Property Care Conference’, features talks on a number of issues that will have a very significant impact on the industry, your business and outputs, including:
- Rob Dakin, AXA Insurance who will discuss the Government's pledge to make the provision of flood protection a “normal” consideration by 2025 and what this means from an insurers perspective? As we write this we're seeing flash floods up and down the country, so is the Government's plan realistic and can we help deliver on this?
- Jon Vanstone, Chairman, Interim Industry Competence Committee will present The Building Safety Bill & its reach beyond 'high risk' buildings. Following the Grenfell Tower tragedy, do any of us really know where this Bill is taking us in terms of competence, safety and accountability?
So, if any of you have yet to book their place at the conference.... what are u waiting for?!

Sprayed Foam Insulation in the spotlight
It seems to be getting harder for property owners where PU foam has been used in their roofs, to sell or re-mortgage. Several of the people that were involved with the original work have suggested the issue be revisited because of significant media and political interest, lender policy, and apparent consumer disadvantage. In response, a draft agenda has now been sent with a proposal that the group meet again in October.
It is hoped that this further collaboration may explore ways in which some very low risk PU foam installations can be de-risked, while ensuring roofs that are at higher risk of defect are identified and remediated.

After a three year wait, the launch of the joint statement into damp diagnostics with Historic England and RICS at the Property Care Conference has caught the media's attention, and we were pleased to see it featured in Inside Conveyancing and Specification Online.
The public launch of this document is a big deal on its own and we anticipate more publications picking this up over the coming weeks too. For now, you can access the event details and booking form by clicking on the button below...

Stallard Kane: Employment Law update
The Supreme Court recently passed a ruling which affects employers when calculating holiday entitlement for workers who work for part of the year (or some weeks of the year). For those members not aware, if you have any individuals who are seasonal workers, term-time only workers or who are working under a zero-hour contract, you will need to review how their holiday entitlement is calculated.
Stallard Kane have shared more information on this, which you can access via the button below...
