Introducing our new website

On Wednesday evening this week, we quietly rolled out the launch our new website!

This new, improved and massively expanded online presence is the first stage (of several launches to come) that we hope helps to expand the PCA's presence and voice online while also improving the user experience and knowledge offered to the many homeowners and professionals that regularly come to the website for expertise.

Comparison Tests put Diagnostic System 'On-Top'!

With new laws being considered that make landlords more accountable for the condition of their rented accommodation, it probably comes as no surprise to many of our PCA members about the rise in interest in the Property Care Associations ‘Condensation & Mould Diagnostics’ kit.

However, what was a nice surprise recently was the comparison tests by Wolverhampton University that has put the PCA's Diagnostic Kit 'on top' as best product.

Invasive weeds hitting the headlines

Has anyone else noticed lately that Invasive weeds seem to be a popular theme in various national news outlets recently? The last three weeks has seen an explosion in articles on invasive weed subjects by the Mail, Express, Guardian, Telegraph and Sun.

On one level this is ‘good news’ but we note that all these articles are typically full of inaccuracies and some are quite misleading.  We don’t recommend our members refer to Japanese knotweed as a ‘Triffid’!!  Perhaps we have to accept that it will always be thus.  If these articles generate enquiries we have the perfect platform to set the record straight and promote high standards of management.  If you see any articles you think are of interest, please send them in!

Update on the Upcoming Conference Programme

For the upcoming ‘2022 International Property Care Conference’ on 22nd September, we now have a draft programme on the website for members to view.  The finalised programme will be published soon.

This year, the structure of the conference is a 'little different' compared to previous years. It is however, packed with learning & knowledge and we hope you can join us as we bring together leading professionals on topics that look towards building adaptation, better preservation while embracing new means to access and survey buildings and property.

We are anticipating the event to be busy. To find out more and to book your place, contact Sue Uttridge on 01480 400001 / [email protected] or click on the button below.

HSE Advice - Use of ladders

The latest annual workplace fatality statistics show that falls when working at height remain the most common kind of workplace fatality across all industries.

Off the back of the recent stats, HSE has updated its guidance on the safe use of ladders at work that we thought might be useful for our members.  It includes

•    more detail on competency, and what that means for ladder users and those managing ladder use on site
•    key safety advice for using telescopic ladders
•    practical tips for using combination and multi-purpose ladders
•    good practice for securing ladders

To find out more, click on the button.

New Apprenticeship Dates Available

We are pleased to announce new dates at the end of August for the 'Structural Waterproofing Apprenticeship'. Your Association continues to invest and adapt in the Apprenticeship Programme and we have recently redeveloped the content to improve the quality of our training and to improve the 'valuable' onsite experience.

With a growing skills shortage in our industry, there has never been a more important time to invest in your staff. And what's more, members can take advantage of the Skills & Training Fund through CITB too.

For more information on the Apprenticeship Programme and to secure a place for the Structural Waterproofing Apprenticeship starting on 30th August, get in touch with Jade on [email protected] or call 01480 400000
