PCA Apprenticeship Success – Our very own Jade!
We really do believe in the importance of providing appropriate and relevant training in which to build a career upon. This belief enabled our very own Training Manager to fully realise her potential and build a future career with the PCA and beyond.
Five years ago Jade Stocker, now the PCA’s Training Manager, began her Apprenticeship at the Head Office in Huntingdon. Working full-time, with one day per week dedicated to studying, Jade quickly established herself as an invaluable member of the team.
College was not the right step
At the time Jade felt that college was not the right step for her and found that when looking for full-time employment, experience was a huge factor. This led Jade to considering an apprenticeship scheme that would enable her to develop her skillset, gain the experience required and earn money at the same time. The perfect combination!
Initially the apprenticeship was daunting!
Starting with the PCA was daunting but exciting especially as initial responsibilities involved managing one particular project that required a great deal of administrative support. This was a huge confidence booster and gave Jade the opportunity to gain invaluable skills that she is still using to this day. Jade stepped in and covered many other critical projects, which led to a permanent move into the training department.
Jade’s Success Story
We are extremely delighted to have supported her development and career from Apprentice (2014), to Training Administrator (2015) and Senior Training & Certification Administrator (2017). Five years on and she has been promoted to the position of Training Manager. Her natural aptitude for responsibility and desire to learn meant that she could flourish and drive the training department forward.
And our apprenticeship story doesn’t end here! In April 2018, we welcomed Amber Topham to the PCA team as our second apprentice. Amber has thrived in her role too, quickly taking responsibility for tasks which has built her confidence and expertise in a number of administrative areas – in just a few short months Amber has shown great potential and is well on her way to developing her career too.
Apprenticeships are not just for those leaving full-time education
Apprenticeships are not just for those leaving full-time education and seeking a route into employment, it can also be a good step for individuals looking to change career or wanting to achieve an industry-recognised qualification while on the job.
