Acknowledging the hazard & managing the risk

PCA’s CEO Steve Hodgson shares important advice with members ahead of the Easter weekend break, as we begin to see some of the ‘lockdown’ restrictions being lifted and pressure mounting for a move back to “normality”. As Steve mentions within his blog: ‘We must continue to ensure we find ways of working and living that acknowledge the hazard and manage the risk…’

Funding for Property Flood Resilience Training

We have talked a great deal about our support for initiatives promoting the importance of Property Flood Resilience (PFR). The Property Care Association is delighted to be a part of the formal training route for the flood sector, following the announcement yesterday that The Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management (CIWEM) has secured funding to build structured training for all those involved in the procurement, promotion, and delivery of PFR.

We are really pleased to have been selected to help support this much needed training to upskill professionals in the delivery of PFR to the highest standard in the industry, and will provide more information as the training is launched.

Know your Insurance policy!

Following news of a homeowner left footing a £250,000 bill when a part of their house collapsed during a loft conversion, it certainly rang a few warning bells. PCA’s Technical Manager James takes a look at what actually went wrong and urges ALL to seek professional advice regarding insurance cover that will ensure protection for both you and property owners.

Green Homes Grant Scheme applications update

You may have seen the news regarding the Green Home Grant Scheme ceasing to take new applications from 31st March 2021. This scheme was an important initiative and one which the PCA supported, albeit with some caution.

In the press announcement released last Saturday, the Government still supports green initiatives and now pledges to:

  • refocus efforts and funding on an alternative approach to maximise the delivery of home retrofits and benefits to consumers and businesses
  • continue to support a thriving building retrofit industry

We will continue to provide updates on this moving forward and any opportunities that this scheme may present for our membership. In the meantime, you can read more via the button below.
