Ventilation – has the penny dropped yet
Following the headline from ITV recently which reported: ‘Two million Londoners living in mouldy, damp or cold homes’; it certainly got people talking and led PCA’s Technical Manager James Berry to ask if lessons will be learnt and if action will be taken to seriously improve air quality within our buildings?

Hodgson View: Spray Foam Insulation may save energy, but at what cost?
The Residential Property Surveying Association (RPSA) recently reached out to the PCA and CEO Steve Hodgson regarding the subject of spray foam insulation products. Suffice to say, Steve had a strong opinion on adhesive foam being sprayed onto the underside of roofs. As many of our PCA members and readers of Steve’s ‘Hodgson View‘ might guess…it is a pretty animated opinion!!!

Flood Protection for Properties
Even with all the good weather we are having right now, the potential for flooding is never too far away. With this in mind, the Property Care Association has been taking the opportunity to continue to support and remind both PCA members and property owners of the steps that can be taken to minimise flood damage to homes and businesses.
By following the steps within the online flood protection guide, you will gain some valuable insight into keeping your homes and buildings dry and safe. You can access the guide via the button below.
For all our PCA members reading this post, we encourage you all to help share this advice and guidance with your customers and client… especially those who have experienced flood problems in the past.

Apprenticeship Success
We are pleased to say we welcomed Cohort 8 of our Damp & Timber Apprenticeship back to our training centre this week. But it got us thinking that whilst this programme continues on a journey of success, what has the apprenticeship led to for the candidates themselves?
For some PCA members, we have seen individuals be nominated for National Awards; go on to sit the CSTDB and CSSW examinations and become qualified surveyors; and we have also received applications for membership once qualified too – in fact we are processing one right now! There is much to celebrate and we are thrilled to share this success with our members. If you feel inspired or want to get your technicians qualified, get in touch with Jade on 01480 400000 / [email protected].
