Social Housing Regulator Issues H&S Reminder
Many of our members deal directly with councils in regards to the upkeep of their housing stock, so it may be of interest to know that the Regulator of Social Housing (RSH) has written to all stock-retaining councils reminding them of their health and safety obligations to tenants after two councils recently breached the Home Standard.” Full details can be found by clicking the button below.
As we are aware condensation and mould are the most common form of dampness and getting to the crux of the issue can be problematic and require a detailed level of diagnostics. To assist with this the Residential Ventilation Group (RVG) has produced a residential surveying checklist designed to provide surveyors with a basic framework to the diagnosis of problems created by atmospheric moisture.

This webinar will be looking at the fundamentals of damp protection – including the visual manifestation of moisture and analysis of the problem. Moisture transport mechanisms related to rising and penetrating damp and rain wetting will be covered, as well as the resultant problematic consequences.

Are we Going to See a Review of BS 8102?
One of the main objectives of the Structural Waterproofing Group has been to push for a review of BS 8102 to better reflect where we now are as an industry. The process has been extremely drawn out and we would like to share with members the latest response from BSi (click on the button below).
Whilst this response certainly feels like a case of ‘kicking the can further down the road’, in all honesty this was not entirely unexpected and we will keep you up to date with any further developments.

Step into Spring with some training

Thermography Course
This workshop is a basic orientation day for those who want to know more about thermography and deepen their understanding of the application of thermography as a diagnostic aid. The use of thermal imaging equipment is growing and with training it can provide a new and exciting insight into the performance of a building.
