Thanks to all that attended the online AGM

A big thank you to all who joined us for our first online AGM on Tuesday and to all who returned their PCA board proxy voting forms. We are pleased to say that for our first online AGM attempt, everything went smoothly.

As what traditionally happens within our AGM’s, it is exciting to see new individuals join the PCA board with fresh insights and ideas to help drive your Association further. However, it is also equally sad to see some of our existing board members leave us too.

With regards to our new board members, we would like to welcome Peter Atchison of ‘PAGeotechnical Ltd’ who brings experience in the sectors of Ground Gas and Invasive Weed; Emily Walker of ‘Walker and Walker Waterproofing Ltd’ who has a wealth of experience within of Structural Waterproofing and additionally has spoken at several PCA conferences; and lastly, Neil Marsden (Snr) of ‘Neil Marsden Independent Damp and Timber Consultants’ who has been a member of the PCA for many years and who currently helps support the PCA training and apprenticeship programs.

We are very sorry to lose outgoing board members Les Meikle who has been on the board for a good number of years and served as chairman, deputy chair, chair of the Scottish regionals and a faithful servant to the board on many capacities. Peter Reay who has been on the board for 7 years and has been deputy chair and chair of the waterproofing group who retires by rotation. And lastly, Annabelle Webster for her valued service to the board who resigned late last year. From everyone within the PCA and all our members, we just want to say a thank you for all your contributions and guidance over the years.

New Building Regulation Manual for England

At the end of last year the Association was asked to help review the new ‘Manual to the Building Regulations’ for England. The document was finally released this week and we were touched by a thank you message from the Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government” prior to release stating “the Property Care Association’s working group in this project was key to delivering a successful outcome”.

Many thanks to all who were involved in the PCA working group to help make this possible.

HSE Guidance – Disinfecting your workplace

HSE has recently released updated guidance to help everyone clean and disinfect work spaces or large rooms which we hope will be helpful to many of our members as we all continue our journey out of furlough.

As with a lot of these things, HSE urges that any use of its suggested treatments should form part of your COVID-19 risk assessment however, there are a lot of easy takeaways that you can use to advise staff on.

Latest Risk Assessments from Stallard Kane

Our Health & Safety partners Stallard Kane continue to update their risk assessments and HSE spot-check info via their ‘Back in Business’ portal. For those unsure as to what it is, it is basically a toolkit of useful documents and risk assessments.

Along with the PCA recommended surveyor and technician guides for safe working within buildings AND the additional pre-questionnaires for both surveyors and technicians sent within previous weekly emails; we hope all PCA members find the guides/documents useful.

For those looking to find copies of the PCA guidance docs or if there is additional guidance that PCA members are looking for, please get in touch.  In the meantime, check out the Stallard Kane ‘Back to Business portal’ via the button below.
