The Hodgson View: Is CITB Delivering a Valuable Service?
Recent cuts to the grant funding available, the complicated processes involved, changes which fail to demonstrate value to members…it all has us asking ‘is CITB delivering a valuable service to PCA members by providing a return on the levy it takes, or is it applying a tax that members would be better off not being a part of?’
Has it all gone just a little too far? No holding back our very own Steve’s thoughts via the ‘Hodgson View’.

Make Apprenticeships Work for You
As it’s been National Apprenticeship Week this week, why not look into a Specialist Apprenticeship Programme? There are many benefits to employing an apprentice from filling skills gaps to increasing productivity and improving staff retention. In fact, statistics show that 92% believe it has led to a more motivated and satisfied workforce – so what are you waiting for?

Get Trained in the Safe Use of Biocides
To secure the future use of biocides for professional users, the PCA has developed a course for technicians on the safe use of biocides in buildings – vital to ensuring we continue to have a choice of products available, that are fit for purpose and safe for consumers.
This one-day course will look at a selection of elements and will involve a short multiple-choice exam at the end of the day. We have also generated a Professional Users of Biocides Register for the Protection of Timber in Buildings and all candidates that pass the multiple-choice exam will be recorded on this register.

Understanding Traditional Building Construction Principles
Deepen your understanding and background knowledge of how the construction type will affect how a building performs and assess and recommend appropriate actions for property care. This one-day workshop covers basic foundation types, roof construction (eaves to ridge), internal components, wall finishes, the orientation of a building and more.
Evaluating Ventilation in Existing Buildings
Condensation and mould are the most common forms of dampness in buildings and it is becoming increasingly essential for anyone that inspects buildings, to understand the significant role that ventilation plays in controlling these issues and how to identify defects in ventilation systems.
Ideally delegates should have a building/trade background as well as some related skill, knowledge or experience.
