Training Hits NEW International Borders

It’s funny the difference a year makes. Turn back the clock and as much as the odd international candidate (numbers were gradually increasing) came along to our training, the door now seems wedged open to new international horizons.

While today we say goodby to the FIRST EVER candidates on the Online Structural Waterproofing Surveyor Training, for the FIRST TIME EVER we welcome a variety of international candidates from Australia, Malaysia, Kenya…and of course…from all over the UK to the start of their online structural waterproofing training.

It is a very proud moment for your Association. Never before have we crossed over so many international borders and had the pleasure to welcome candidates from such a variety of countries. It just goes to show the value placed on the skills & qualifications our PCA members have within other international boundaries. It’s recognition that in many areas within our sectors, PCA members lead the World with the skills they and your Association have.

We hope all PCA members join us to say a BIG WELCOME to our new international candidates and the best of luck with your training.

Maple R&D Website Now Launched

We shared news with PCA members recently that the Association now has a wholly owned subsidiary company – Maple Research and Development Ltd – under the umbrella of the PCA.

With orders progressing well, we are pleased to share that the Maple R&D website has now been launched. At present, the website is fairly basic in design and content however, it will grow over time as the company grows. For the first time though, it gives the company a presence on the web and it is the first step of many steps to help develop and grow the brand.

Giant Hogweed Hits the Headlines AGAIN!

Some of our invasive weed members may be aware, but Giant Hogweed is grabbing national headlines this week with sad stories & photos of the terrible burns sustained.

The PCA recently has had great take-up of our editorial by regional and National newspapers to try and get the message out about “recognising it, avoid it and get it treated/removed by experts”. But we feel there is an opportunity for our invasive weed members to also communicate to YOUR audiences and media channels. We urge our IW members to communicate out awareness, guidance, advice and highlight the dangers of Giant Hogweed. Let your clients and customers see you are a ‘voice of authority’. If there ever was a time to communicate out your expertise in Hogweed…NOW is that time!

With Covid changing most peoples working habits and UK householders now spending more than 16 hours a day at home and indoors, are all our homes becoming more unhealthy & polluted? Can some of our buildings really be 50 times more polluted than outdoor air?!?

To learn more, come join us and Kassie Williams from Nuaire as we explore ‘Improving Air Quality in Existing Dwellings‘. Click on the button to learn more….

London Flooding – Potential Impact on Waterproofing

Over the last few weeks, we have seen homes, businesses and even tube stations inundated with floodwater. With it happening twice in quick succession, it’s beginning to look like a trend that we, unfortunately, suspect will happen again.

For those PCA members within our flood sector, this may not be news to you. However, for all our structural waterproofing members, if this trend continues, what does this mean for the basements and cellars that our industry waterproofs?

It was a topic touched upon at the recent Structural Waterproofing Group (SWG) that perhaps, we need to look at again and potentially discuss in greater depth at the next SWG meeting. We will look to provide some guidance on this topic in the near future.

Remember to keep in the loop…
