Are you claiming back money for your training?
With the exception of the invasive weed sector, most of our members fall in scope to the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB).
Once members get over a wage bill of £135,000 per annum, they are required to pay the Levy. However if your business is smaller than this, you can still register to CITB and access grants to support your business’ training.
Employer Networks
Regardless of the size of your business, all are eligible to join CITB’s new Employer Networks. These networks, which are supported by a dedicated CITB adviser provide support in booking and organising training for you and your team. This includes CITB directly paying for 70% of the cost of the training.
As a CITB Approved Training Organisation (ATO), much of the PCA’s training is available via the Employer Network and by booking via your local network, you could save hundreds of pounds!
Skills and Training Fund
If using an Employer Network isn’t for you, CITB offer up to £5,000 for small businesses and up to £10,000 for large businesses to develop and carry out their own training plans. If you understand what the training needs of your business are likely to be over the next 12 months, developing a training plan may suit you.
The skills and training plans can include administrative and management courses, rather than just construction courses. It can also be used to develop training which doesn’t already exist or develop company specific manuals and guidance.
Both the Employer Networks and Skills and Training Fund can be used to support each other, provided there is no repetition of training.
Grant Funding
If you would rather claim for training on an ad-hoc basis, you can submit a request for grant funding for eligible construction courses via the Construction Training Directory. A grant for either £60, £140 or £240 is available depending on the course.
