Representing at the Ground Engineering Basements Conference
The Ground Engineering (GE) Basements and Underground Structures Conference, held on 3 October, 2024, in London, was a key event focused on innovations in basement construction and geotechnical engineering. The conference covered topics like sustainable design, risk management, ground improvement techniques, and urban infrastructure development. Experts from various sectors; including infrastructure, commercial, and residential, gathered to share best practices and explore cutting-edge approaches to climate adaptation, carbon reduction, and solving labour shortages.
In addition to the technical presentations and discussions, the event featured the Early Careers Challenge, which provided young professionals an opportunity to demonstrate their skills in problem-solving and innovation. The conference was co-located with the GE Smart Geotechnics event, which focused on the integration of smart technologies in geotechnical projects, like cloud computing and AI for monitoring and data analysis.
Technical manager Andrew Devitt chaired the final session of the conference which included a panel discussion relating to contract procurement and supply chains and innovation. Andrew made attendees aware of the PCA and how members fit into their supply chains in particular to our structural waterproofing specialists.
